Ep 10: Fengjia Night Market in Taichung
As many of you may know, Taiwan is known for its vibrant night markets full of street food and unique retail gems. So far we have covered the Hwah Si Night Market in Taipei because its the oldest and exudes a different sort of unique charm, and we chose to skip Shihlin because there has already been alot of exposure for them. The other night market we had to cover was Fengjia Night Market, which is purported to be Taiwan's largest!
Fengjia Night Market is situated in the Xitun (or Situn) District in Taichung City and it offers a wide variety of Taiwanese snacks, drinks, novelties and fashion goods at prices that are supposed to be more affordable than the night markets in Taipei. There are over 1,000 stalls, shops and food stalls surrounding Wenhua Road, Fengjia Road, Fu Xing Road, and Xi-an Road. Also nearby is the Fengjia University, which also explains the large number of youngsters. Some of the interesting food sampled by Joanne-Marie include the bear-paw sandwich, sausage-in-sausage, and stinky tofu. Other snacks such as oyster omelette, all sorts of food on skewers, bubble tea, and the usual chicken cutlet were also available. So if you only have the time and energy to visit only 1 night market in Taiwan, we strongly recommend Fengjia Night Market! Watch this episode to know why! Also, watch the GoodNight Cam #1 from March 22 to see what Joanne-Marie bought from the night market: For more information:
