Ep 14: Dachu Coffee Farm and Qigu Salt Mountain in Tainan
Down one mountain and up another, we chanced upon Dachu Coffee Farm, a cozy joint nestled in a quiet corner, far above and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Hailing from Taipei, the owner, Mr Kuo, shares with us stories on how he first started, and what fuels his passion in coffee-making. His calm demeanour is reflected in the homely decor of the cafe, and more importantly, the coffee that he makes. Without a doubt, one of the best cups of coffee we've ever tasted in our lives!

Qigu has a long history of generating salt and actually contributes to over 60% of Taiwan’s salt production. It is also a popular tourist destination and many have come to view and photograph the salt plains and Salt Mountains, also known as Qigu Yan Shan. The landscape is flushed with salt mounds making it a unique picturesque background together with a mountain made up of two hectares of salt which you can actually climb using the steps that have been carved into the hard salt.

Inside it, one can find a large array of knick-knacks, old-school toys, candy, biscuits, drinks, and oh, the unforgettable Salted Egg Yolk & Walnut ice cream. For fans of savoury ice-cream, this is NOT to be missed!
Our team was given a treat with "鸡鸭蛋”, which are actually century eggs, but with a salted egg yolk centre. Quite a novelty and rather addicitive, but unfortunately, these eggs must be eaten fresh and we couldn't take some back for you guys. You'll have to go there and try it for yourself!
