Ep 8: Rainbow Village in Taichung
After a long day exploring the Flying Cow Ranch, Joanne-Marie spends the night at a minsu (also known as homestay or "bed & breakfast") in Miaoli. The amicable owners of Zu House Bed & Breakfast, Kevin and Elma shared with Joanne-Marie more about eco-culture in Taiwan over a nourishing breakfast made of organic fruit and tea. Their love for nature and passion towards giving back to the earth is really inspiring!

Affectionately known as 彩虹爷爷, which translates into Rainbow Grandpa, he tells her his story which led to him painting an entire village. An old soldier who was posted to Taiwan more than 60 years ago, he's been living away from his family in Hong Kong. He's fought in the war and even bore bullets in his shoulders. With no other hobbies, he spent two years enveloping the entire village with paintings of animals, heros, aliens and wise advice. The paint remains on his hands 'til this day and can't be removed. It's almost like how the village has so much become a part of him, and him, part of this little corner of the bustling city of Taichung.
We wanted to share with Rainbow Grandpa the photo we took together so out came the Canon SELPHY CP900 which allowed us to wirelessly print direct from our Canon PowerShot S110. You can see in the video the beaming Rainbow Grandpa as he gets impressed by the stunning colours on the prints.
